training the patient's reactions to stimuli
Behavior therapy is based off of principles of both classical and operant conditioning by Ivan Pavlov and B.F. Skinner.
Types of behavior therapy are:
-systematic desensitization (a treatment for phobias in which the patient is exposed to progressively more anxiety-provoking
stimuli and taught relaxation techniques)
-aversion therapy (a treatment designed to make a patient give up an undesirable habit by causing them to associate it
with an unpleasant effect)
-flooding (also called exposure therapy, this is when a patient is exposed to the feared object or context without any danger,
in order to overcome their anxiety)

Example: Mr. Hook's therapist uses systematic desensitization to slowly expose him to frogs to help him overcome his fear of them.
